Club Zoom was set up at the start of the lockdown; it was born from losing touch with local club members. Missing the interaction with the network of colleagues and friends it was the ideal way to continue .
We now have a club that is as near to a live club as possible; it’s not about numbers or demonstrations it’s about its members.
We have turners from all over the world and of all skill levels.
Each Wednesday the virtual meeting room is open from 7pm and the main meeting starts promptly at 7:30pm where we start by welcoming and introducing any new members.
We split the large group into several small groups and each meets in their own meeting room until 8:15pm; this allows everyone the opportunity to talk and get to know other members before the main meeting starts. I will then run the meeting with any members that want to take the spotlight and talk about their turning journey or maybe an outside supplier to do a talk about their products. This website has a members gallery which allows them to showcase their projects to a wider audience.
Encouraging and Promoting
Each week we have members that show case their work. In our show and tell session that has grown in popularity, members enjoy showing their work and it inspires others to create their own version of work from it.
A Lasting Journey
Our aim is to promote and encourage others to take up the hobby of woodturning and inspire people to stay with it, it’s a sad fact that many that start the woodturning journey lose interest with lack of inspiration or find that they get frustrated or worse hurt through lack of knowledge both are easily solved with the right people or friends around you.
